The Big Book of AA and the Twelve Steps
Welcome
We are grateful for your interest in the Twelve Steps. A few words before we begin:
First, it is our view that learning about the Twelve Steps is a good thing. But LEARNING is different from DOING. The Twelve steps are not the twelve concepts or the twelve ideas, they are actions, which do not have any real effect on our lives unless we work them.
Second, we have found that working the Twelve Steps is best done with a flesh-and-blood sponsor. Sponsors who have worked the Twelve Steps can provide guidance and answer the many questions we will have about this process. A good sponsor will also keep us from deceiving ourselves about the quality and thoroughness of our work.
We realize that in some places it will not be possible to find a good Big Book sponsor, but in most cases, a little searching on our part will turn up someone qualified.
Third, the videos in this series outline the Twelve Steps as described in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. For each Step, we've included a section of recommended readings. We encourage you to pick up a copy of the Big Book and to read the material suggested for each step.
This course contains nearly four hours of video. We don't recommend watching it all at once. Our best advice is that you take your time, and work this program one Step at a time with the help of someone who has first-hand experience with all of the Twelve Step program.
